Official Records Contacts

This is a private reference website, not a government office. We cannot confirm custody, arrange a release, accept bond, or pull an official booking record. Contact the office that maintains the record for those actions.

Meigs Sheriff and Records Route

The Meigs County Sheriff's Office is at 104 E. Second Street, Pomeroy, OH 45769. Its main number is (740) 992-3371 and its published fax is (740) 992-2654. The sheriff site's FAQ names Amanda Larkins for formal police-record requests at amanda.larkins@meigssheriff.org. The current booking facility is Southeastern Ohio Regional Jail, not the permanently closed former county jail.

For a formal record request, use the sheriff FAQ and request-form route. The form permits mail, fax, email, or in-person submission. It estimates 3 to 5 business days for a deputy to finish a report and another 3 to 5 business days for locating and approval. That is a form estimate, not a promise that a requested photograph or record will be released.

Which Office Holds the Record?

Choosing the custodian first makes a request more useful. A city officer's incident report, a current regional booking record, and a court disposition are different records. Give the full name, date, arresting agency, case number or Jail ID when known, and the precise record being requested.

  • For current or recent regional custody, begin with the SEORJ roster and then ask SEORJ or the arresting agency about the record custodian.
  • For a Meigs sheriff report, use the sheriff's request route and records contact.
  • For a Middleport, Pomeroy, or Syracuse report, ask the relevant police department for its current records custodian.
  • For a county-court case, use Meigs County Court record search and its clerk.
  • For Common Pleas felony records, contact the Clerk of Courts legal division.
  • For state prison or supervision status, use the Ohio DRC offender search.

Urgent and Warrant Questions

Call 911 for an emergency or immediate threat. The sheriff report-a-crime page lists a non-emergency route through the main number, Option 1, another published non-emergency number at (740) 992-6663, and a tip line at (740) 992-4682. Those contacts are not a public warrant-certification database. A court or sheriff must verify a current warrant record, and a person affected by a possible warrant should contact the issuing court or an attorney.

The Sheriff's Most Wanted page explains the absence of a verified public Meigs warrant list and the safe official verification path. The county record reference explains the broader roster, booking, and court sequence.
